You don’t have to come back.

You don’t have to knock on the door or steal the keys once you found out that the locks have changed. You don’t have to rearrange all the pieces that were scattered on the floor. You don’t have to force the smile that you rehearsed. You don’t have to say the words that you barely mean. You don’t have to check if there are still traces of you in the ruins that we have become. You don’t have to lurk around just to see my falling tears and my deepest fears turn into reality.

Don’t offer an apology when it was a decision that you have planned meticulously. Don’t attempt to stop my crying when you are the reason why we’re evaporating completely. Don’t cast your shadows to where I am for you are the one who turned off the lights. Don’t listen to my pleas for your own narcissistic satisfaction. Don’t tilt your head in my direction. Don’t seek my affection. Don’t even try to offer condolences for the future of us that you mercilessly murdered.

The truth is nothing here is yours anymore. When you chose the other path, you have also nullified your rights. You can’t just set a home on fire and return for the ashes. You can’t just linger as the ghost of the storm that drowned everyone in this island. The pieces are mine to rebuild. The sorrow is mine to grief. The memories of my fallen love will be dearly remembered however, the one who ambushed it will be buried into oblivion.

There will be another door and this time, you won’t be able to pass through it. There will be another home and you won’t be welcome to haunt it at night. There will be another one who won’t repeat the crime that you committed.

I would like to ask your conscience, will it let you sleep?
